Miyagikyo Single Malt shows the characteristics of Nikka’s second distillery built in 1969. The founder, Masataka Taketsuru, chose this site in the mountains of Sendai to contrast with his first distillery, Yoichi, which is in the coastal area. The area known for its pure air and the quality of its natural springs, the Miyagikyo distillery produces a refined malt Whisky. Miyagikyo Single Malt is described as delicate and fruity. Miyagikyo Single Malt has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence. NOSE: Full-flavoured, rich. Initially develops aromas of malted barley, exotic fruit (banana), liquorice and rose petals. PALATE: Malted barley is at the heart of the palate, coated in herbaceous, liquorice, spiced fruit and chocolate tones. Fresh tobacco leaves and coconut intertwine to create a natural symphony of aromas. FINISH: Long elegant finish, it evokes the scent of wilted roses. It lingers on notes of tobacco, spices (cardamom, ginger), toasted nuts and stewed fruits (apple, damson). The final nose reveals exotic notes.
